A total of NOK 849.6 billion was received by the Norwegian tax authorities in 2012. Taxation of petroleum activities contributed the most to this growth in tax income.

NOK 228.7 billion was paid in tax on petroleum income during the fiscal year of 2012. Taxation of petroleum activities grew at the rate of 11 per cent; NOK 22. 7 billion, compared to 2011. The special income tax on petroleum is the greatest contributor with NOK 142.9 billion, while the ordinary taxes on petroleum activities account for NOK 85.8 billion. These sums experienced an 11.9 per cent and 9.7 per cent growth compared to 2011 respectively.

More from the advance tax arrangement

NOK 545.8 billion was generated from the advance tax arrangement. This is an increase of 6.9 per cent, or NOK 35.2 billion, compared to 2011. Almost two thirds of the tax payments were paid through the advance tax arrangement. NOK 303.3 billion was paid through the non-personal taxpaying arrangement. Moderate growth in tax income for local government

The local authorities received NOK 145.2 billion in 2012, which is a 7.1 per cent increase from 2011. This aggregate is the combined effort of the ordinary taxation on income to the municipalities and ordinary taxes to the county municipalities, which contributed NOK 119.7 billion and NOK 25.5 billion respectively.

NOK 231 billion to the central government

This represents a growth of 3 per cent compared to 2011. This sum is mostly from one source, namely the tax equalization contribution to the central government. NOK 201 billion was received through the tax equalisation contribution. This represents a 3.3 per cent increase compared to 2011.

Merging of municipalities

The municipalities of Mosvik and Inderøy were merged as Inderøy. In table 3, the changes in per cent from last year are based on the sum of the two municipalities last year.
