Background and purpose

The purpose is to offer the public easy access to figures for the OECD countries' expenditures on development aid that are comparable over time and between the OECD countries.

Users and applications

Other important users are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Directorate for Developing Aid (NORAD), research institutes and mass media.

Equal treatment of users

No external users have access to the statistics and analyses before they are published and accessible simultaneously for all users on ssb.no at 10 am. Prior to this, a minimum of three months' advance notice is given inthe Statistics Release Calendar. This is one of Statistics Norway’s key principles for ensuring that all users are treated equally.

The population comprises all official development aid (ODA) as defined by the OECD.

Data are taken from www.oecd.ord/development and will also be publiced by OECD in the annual OECD publication The DAC Journal "Development Co-operation Report". The Directorate for Foreign Aid (NORAD) reports the Norwegian figures to the OECD.
