Increase in CPI for Svalbard
The CPI-S increased by 2.1 per cent from October 2009 to October 2010. The growth was mainly caused by the price development in food and non-alcoholic beverages, while prices of audio-visual equipment contributed in the opposite direction.
The consumer price index for Svalbard (CPI-S) was 120.1 (March 2001=100) in October 2010 and 117.6 in October 2009, up 2.1 per cent. The consumption divisions that showed the largest increase in prices and that contributed most to the growth were food and non-alcoholic beverages together with housing, water, electricity and fuels. The prices of goods and services within transport also increased. Prices on audio-visual equipment decreased, thus retaining the total rise.
