Increase in CPI for Svalbard
The CPI-S increased by 2.3 per cent from October 2010 to September 2011. The growth was mainly caused by the price development in transport, while prices of audio-visual equipment contributed in the opposite direction.
The consumer price index for Svalbard (CPI-S) was 122.9 (March 2001=100) in September 2011 and 120.1 in October 2010, up 2.3 per cent. The consumption divisions that showed the largest increase in prices, thus making the largest contribution to the growth, were transport together with housing, water, electricity and fuels. Prices of audio-visual equipment decreased, thus dampening the overall rise.
