CPI-S up 4.4 per cent
The CPI-S increased by 4.4 per cent from September 2011 to September 2012. The growth was mainly caused by the price development in housing, water, electricity and fuels together with transport. Prices of communication together with clothing and footwear contributed in the opposite direction.
The consumer price index for Svalbard (CPI-S) was 122.9 (March 2001=100) in September 2011 and 128.3 in September 2012, up 4.4 per cent. The consumption divisions that showed the largest increase in prices, thus making the largest contribution to the growth, were housing, water, electricity and fuels together with transport. Prices of communication together with clothing and footwear decreased, thus dampening the overall rise.
