Less cargo over Norwegian ports
The total amount of goods transported domestically and internationally in the 4t h quarter of 2005 was 45.3 million tonnes, a decrease of 3.3 per cent from the previous year.
Wet bulk constitutes 58 per cent and dry bulk constitutes 28 per cent of the total amount of cargo transported. The ports of Narvik and Grenland handled 43 per cent of the total dry bulk cargo.
105 282 TEU-containers with cargo were handled in the 4t h quarter 2005, an increase of 3.5 per cent compared with the same quarter in 2004. In total, 1.1 million tonnes of cargo were transported in TEU-containers.
More passengers
In the 4t h quarter of 2005, 1.4 million passengers were carried on the ferry services to and from Norway. This is an increase of 4.5 per cent from the previous year. The ports of Oslo and Sandefjord accounted for 63 per cent of these passengers.
The numbers for port of Bergen is estimated based on the development of the other ports.
