Increased transport with the international ferries

During the 3rd quarter of 2015, 2.3 million passengers travelled with the international ferries to and from Norway. This was an increase of 95 600, or 4.3 per cent compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014.

Sandefjord port had the largest increase in transportation of both passengers and cars, motorcycles and accompanying trailers/caravan. In total, Sandefjord, Kristiansand and Bergen port transported almost 80 000 more passengers and 33 0000 cars, motorcycles and accompanying trailers/caravan compared with the same period in 3rd quarter of 2014. Road goods vehicles and accompanying trailers had an increase of 6 300 units in the same period.

Increased traffic abroad

The total cargo was 49.4 million tonnes in the 3rd quarter of 2015. The share of cargo transported to and from a foreign port was 64 per cent of all cargo. In the 3rd quarter of 2015, this share was 60 per cent. In the 3rd quarter of 2014 the corresponding figure was 60 per cent.

Increased liquid bulk

Liquid bulk amounted to 49 per cent of the total cargo in 3rd quarter of 2015, compared to 43 per cent in the same quarter of 2014. Bergen and Omland authorities port, and Tønsberg port had a decrease in the transport of liquid bulk, while Karmsund had an increase of the same cargo.

Slight changes in dry bulk

In the 3rd quarter of 2015, 20.2 million tonnes dry bulk was transported, an increase near 2 per cent compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014. Narvik port had a decrease of 13 per cent, mainly ore.

Less cargo in containers

The total amounts of cargo transported in containers in 3rd quarter of 2015 were 1.5 million tonnes. The number of loaded containers were almost 124 000, 11.9 tonnes per container. In the same quarter in 2014 the cargos were 12.5 tonnes per container.

More passengers with the Coastal Express Liner

In the 3rd quarter of 2015, 14 200, or 10.8 per cent more passengers travelled with the Coastal Express Liner, compared with same period in 2014. A total of 146 0000 passengers travelled with this route in 3rd quarter 2015.
