Slight increase in total cost for domestic sea transport
The total cost index for domestic sea transport was 114.8 in the 3rd quarter of 2012; only 2.0 per cent higher than the same period in 2011. However, the increase was only 0.5 per cent compared with the 2nd quarter of 2012.
The sub-indices for administrative and fuel costs were 116.1 and 162.3 respectively in the 3rd quarter of 2012. These sub-indices had the highest growth, with an increase of 6.6 and 6.9 compared to the same period in 2011.
The sub-index for capital costs of financing was 96.7 in the 3rd quarter of 2012, which was a decrease of 18.9 per cent compared with the same period last year. This sub-index is based on 3-month nominal NIBOR from Norges Bank.
Highest cost increase was for large passenger boats
The sub-index for large passenger boats was 116.9 in the 3rd quarter of 2012. This represents an increase of 2.4 per cent compared to the 3rd quarter of 2011. The sub-index for total costs for tow vessels was 112.0 in the 3rd quarter of 2012. This figure represents an increase of only 1.3 per cent compared to the same period last year. The base year for the index is 2009.
