Almost unaltered use of public transport
Overall, there was no change in pubic transport from the first quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013. Nevertheless, bus passengers increased by almost 1.7 million, while rail transport had a corresponding decrease.

For the first time since 2008, the first quarter showed a marginal setback in 2013 of -0.1 per cent compared to the same quarter a year earlier. The entire growth in bus passengers was offset by the drop in subway and tram passengers. In total, this led to a level of about 140 million passengers.
Increased ticket revenues for rail travel
Despite a loss in passengers of -3.3 per cent, ticket revenues rose by NOK 51 million from the first quarter of 2012 to the first quarter of 2013. This was an increase of 4.1 per cent. Ticket revenues for bus and boat were marginally down in the same period.
Reduction in bus service offered
Scheduled buses travelled 3.8 million kilometres fewer in the first quarter of 2013 than the same period a year earlier. This was a reduction of -4.0 per cent and led to a reduction in total kilometres travelled of -3.2 per cent.
