50 million tonnes on Norwegian roads
Norwegian lorries transported about 50 million tonnes of goods on Norwegian roads in the first quarter of 2005. This is on level with the corresponding quarter of 2004. The transport performance amounted to 3.6 billion tonne-kilometres, an increase of 3 per cent from the first quarter of 2004.
Public haulage accounted for almost 35 million tonnes of the goods transported in Norway in the first quarter of 2005. The transport of gravel, sand, cements etc. accounted for almost half of the goods transported in Norway.
The total distance travelled by Norwegian lorries in the first quarter was 363 million kilometres. This is almost 8 million kilometres, or 2 per cent, less than in the same quarter last year.
Norwegian lorries transported over 1 million tonnes of goods outside Norway in the first quarter of 2005, and the transport performance amounted to 764 million tonne-kilometres. This is an 11 per cent increase from the first quarter of 2004.
