More road transport
Norwegian lorries transported 3.5 more goods during the second quarter of 2010 than in the corresponding quarter last year. Transport performance was up 13.6 per cent. Nevertheless, road transport has not reached the same level as in the second quarter of 2008.
A total of 69 million tonnes of goods were transported domestically and 1.5 million tonnes abroad by Norwegian lorries during the second quarter of 2010. The average length of carriage has increased by 8.7 kilometres per tonne for goods transported inside this country, but the international transport distance has gone down. Each tonne transported abroad was carried 134.7 kilometres less than in the second quarter of 2009.
