Continued growth in lorry transport
During the third quarter of 2010, Norwegian lorries transported 11.6 per cent more goods than in the corresponding quarter of 2009. Transport performance was up 2.8 per cent, but the transport is still below the level of the third quarter of 2008.
A total of 71.5 million tonnes of goods were transported domestically and 1.4 million tonnes abroad by Norwegian lorries during the third quarter of 2010. The distance covered by loaded lorries increased by 9.2 per cent in national transport. However, in international transport, the transport distance went down, and this led to a fall in the transport performance of 23.3 per cent compared with the same quarter in 2009.
