Increase in national road goods transport
In the 2nd quarter of 2013, Norwegian lorries performed 4.7 billion tonne-kilometres domestically; 10.4 per cent more than in the corresponding quarter last year. These lorries transported 66.5 million tonnes of goods; an increase of 6.7 per cent over the same period.

Norwegian lorries transported a total of 67.8 million tonnes of goods in the 2nd quarter of 2013, including transport in connection with import and export. The transport performance increased by nearly 7 per cent and amounted to 5.4 billion tonne-kilometres. Norwegian lorries covered a total of 551.3 million kilometres, including 415.7 million kilometres with freight. The average transport distance per tonne increased from 79.7 kilometres in the 2nd quarter of 2012 to 80.1 kilometres in 2013.
The transport performance in international transport decreased by 11.5 per cent compared with the 2nd quarter of 2012, while the transported tonnage carried fell by 9.2 per cent.
The rate of empty kilometres decreased for both domestic and international transport, with 1.4 percentage points for domestic driving and 4 percentage points for transport abroad.
