Decrease in international transport performance
Norwegian lorries performed 5.3 billion tonne-kilometres in Norway and on trips abroad in the 3rd quarter of 2014. The domestic transport performance increased, while the transport performance in transport to and from Norway fell compared with the same quarter last year.

The increase in the overall transport performance was 2.8 per cent compared with the 3rd quarter of 2013. The domestic transport performance amounted to 4.6 billion tonne-kilometres, an increase of 4.8 per cent compared with 2013. The transport performance in connection with exports and imports was 0.6 billion tonne-kilometres, a decline of 9.8 per cent in the same period.
The average mileage per tonne for national transport decreased and amounted to 60.3 kilometres in the 3rd quarter of 2014. For lorries in international transport, the average mileage was 538 kilometres per tonne.
More gravel transport
In total, Norwegian lorries transported 76.9 million tonnes of goods nationally and 1.2 million tonnes of goods internationally. This corresponds to 15.5 per cent more nationally and 13 per cent less internationally compared with the 3rd quarter of 2013. Domestically, it was mass transports in particular that contributed to the growth in the transport amount, with an increase from the same quarter last year of 15.7 per cent.
More transport for own account
The proportion of the national transport performance carried as transport for own account went up by 3.2 percentage points compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013. Lorries for transport for hire or reward have had about two-thirds of the market share for many years measured in transport performance domestically. In the 3rd quarter of 2014, the share of transport for hire or reward was 73.5 per cent.
