69.4 billion in gross freight earnings

Vessels in foreign-going trade sailed in 69.4 billion in gross freight earnings in 2000, an increase of 14.5 billion or 26.8 per cent from 1999.

The operating result in 2000 was NOK 20 billion, an increase of 7.8 billion from 1999. The operating profit was 26.8 per cent, an increase of 6.5 percentage points.

Tankers

The operating earnings of Norwegian registered tankers were NOK 24 billion, an increase of 4.8 billion from 1999. The foreign registered tankers improved their operating result by 1.6 billion to 1.9 billion in 2000.

Dry bulkers

The operating earnings for bulkers improved substantially, by 18.8 per cent from NOK 31.5 to NOK 37.4 billion.
