The preliminary figures show that a total of 6 223 persons have been injured in Norwegian traffic so far in 2003. The comparative figure for 2002 was 6 880 persons injured, while the average for the period 1994-2003 is 6 328 persons injured in the first seven months of the year.
Police figures
The statistics are compiled from returns made by police authorities. Less severe accidents and injuries are therefore under-represented in the figures.
The accident figures for 2002 that are used for comparative purposes in this text are preliminary. The figures for 2002 presented in the tables 1-8 are final.
