19 fatalities and 769 injured in January
A total of 526 road traffic accidents were reported to the Norwegian police in January 2005. According to preliminary figures 19 people were killed and 769 were injured in these accidents.
In January 2004 the number of fatalities amounted to 16 killed and 769 injured in road traffic accidents. Figures for the ten-year period 1996-2005 show that 22 were killed and 759 injured on average in January. Among the 19 people killed, nine were drivers of cars, five were car passengers, one person on motorcycle, one person on moped and three were pedestrians.
Revised figures for 2004
The revised figures for 2004 show 8 395 road traffic accidents, 257 persons killed and 12 096 injured.
The figures for 2004 and 2005 that are used for comparative purposes in this text are preliminary.
