13 fatalities and 709 injured in January
A total of 493 road traffic accidents were reported to the Norwegian police in January 2006. According to preliminary figures 13 people were killed and 709 were injured in these accidents.
Among the 13 people killed, eight were drivers of cars, two were car passengers and three were pedestrians. In January 2005 the number of fatalities amounted to 19 killed and 769 injured. Figures for the ten-year period 1997-2006 show that 21 were killed and 764 injured on average in January.
Revised figures for 2005
The revised figures for 2005 show 8 122 road traffic accidents, 223 persons killed and 11 546 injured.
The figures for 2005 that are used for comparative purposes in this text are preliminary.
