Statistics indicate that the increase in the number of registered students at The Norwegian Police University College holds an exceptional position: while the number in 2011 was almost triple that of 2004, the number of registered students at the remainder of educational institutions only increased by 9 per cent in the same period.

The increase took place in the period from 2004 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, the number of students decreased by about 5 per cent. Figures from The Norwegian Police University College nevertheless show that 2010 and 2011 also had a large growth for the 3-year police studies course, but the figures for 2009 have relatively large elements of additional studies of a shorter duration than for 2010 and 2011.

Increase in operating expenditure on teaching per 60 credit points

In 2011, the operating expenditure on teaching per 60 credit points came to an average of approximately NOK 155 000; an increase of almost 3 per cent compared to the previous year.

Almost three out of ten have tertiary education

Of the population in Norway aged 16 years and over, about 29 per cent have a tertiary education. Since 2004, the proportion of people with a tertiary education has increased by 5 percentage points. The highest attained level of education is among 30 to 39-year-olds, where 45 per cent have a higher education.

31 000 FTEs and NOK 30 billion expenditure on employee compensation and use of goods and services

Operating expenditure includes compensation of employees and the use of goods and services, and came to NOK 29.8 billion in 2011. This corresponds to about 12 per cent of the corresponding expenditure in public administration overall. The number of contracted FTEs adjusted for long-term leave in public tertiary education was 31 026, which corresponds to 13 per cent of the total public administration.
