Increased turnover at Svalbard

The total turnover at Svalbard increased by 11.4 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017. Increased activity within construction was a large contributor to this development.

The main industries information and communication, and finance-and insurance activities are the largest areas measured by turnover and had an increase in 2018 by 18.7 per cent. The turnover for accommodation and food service activities increased by 6.6 per cent, to a total of 416M NOK, according to new figures from Industry statistics for Svalbard.
This industry has experienced growing activity during the latest years. Compared to 2013 turnover has increased by 64.6 per cent and number of man-years by 26.2 per cent.

Growth in investments within Real Estate activities
In total investments in tangible assets was more or less unchanged compared to 2017. The investments within real estate activities reached the highest level since 2014, by 75M NOK.
