NOK 147 billion capital in foundations

Non-financial foundations had NOK 147 billion in total capital in 2014. This is an increase of over NOK 6 billion, or just over 4 per cent from 2013.

More than three quarters of the foundations’ capital was financed by equity. The equity ratio was 78 per cent in both 2014 and 2013.

Operating expenses amounted to around NOK 40 billion in 2014, up 5 per cent from NOK 38 billion in 2013.

About one in three foundations, or 2 465 out of the total 7 254, were non-profit in the fiscal year 2014. The total assets of the non-profit foundations were worth almost NOK 35 billion in 2014. This is a slight increase of 1 per cent from 2013. Of the total capital invested in non-profit foundations, 54 per cent was financed by equity capital in 2014, compared to 56 per cent in 2013.
