| Definition | The institutional sector is a statistical classification used mainly in National Accounts. It splits the economy into sectors on the basis of groups of homogeneous institutional units. An institutional units is an economic entity and it is either a group of persons in a form of households or a legal entity. The standard is based on FN's System of National Accounts (SNA93) and EU's European System of National Accounts (ESA95). |
