1  The figures for Oslo municipality are included in the county-figures for upper secondary school only.

Figures for the counties show a decrease of 1.3 per cent in the number of employees, while the number of contracted man-years increased by 0.3 per cent. The growth in man-years in 2008 is lower compared to the two previous years.

In 2008, 433 600 persons were employed by the municipalities, totalling 334 178 contracted man-years. This is due to the fact that a large percentage of the employees work part-time. The average contracted working hours increased from 2007 to 2008 leading to man-years increasing more than the number of employees.

Increase in man-years in nursing and care services

The nursing and care services in total show an increase in contracted man-years of 2.6 per cent from the 4t h quarter of 2007 to the 4t h quarter of 2008, totalling 121 209 contracted man-years. The figures for the nursing and care services also include private enterprises contracted by the municipalities. The man-years in private services amount to 5.6 per cent of the man-years in nursing and care services in total. The share of private services remain unchanged since 2005.

Unchanged figure for the county man-years

Contracted man-years within the counties remain nearly identical compared to 2007 with an increase of 0.3 per cent, or 111 man-years. Man-years in upper secondary education amount to 83 per cent of the contracted man-years in the counties. A decrease of 3.7 per cent in the dental health services may be caused by an increase in services bought from private dental health services.
