Monthly earnings up 3.9 per cent

Average monthly earnings excluding overtime pay for all employees increased from NOK 36 700 in 2011 to NOK 38 100 in 2012. This is a year-on-year increase of 3.8 per cent.

Full-time employees had average monthly earnings of NOK 41 000, which corresponds to a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 400 or 3.5 per cent from 2011. Monthly earnings for part-time employees were NOK 33 100, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.7 per cent.

Monthly earnings for women and men

Average monthly earnings for all men were NOK 42 100 in 2012, while corresponding earnings for women were NOK 36 400. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 300 or 3.2 per cent for men and NOK 1 600 or 4.6 per cent for women.

Annual earnings up 4 per cent

Average annual earnings, which are based on calculated annual earnings for all industries, amounted to NOK 470 900. This is an increase of NOK 17 900 or 4.0 per cent from 2011.

The private sector

Employees in oil and gas extraction had the highest annual earnings with NOK 725 100, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 29 000 or 4.2 per cent from 2011.

Average annual earnings for employees in financial intermediation were NOK 643 300, the same as in 2011. For employees in manufacturing, annual earnings rose from NOK 451 700 in 2011 to NOK 472 300 in 2012. This corresponds to an increase of 4.6 per cent.

The public sector

Average annual earnings for employees in the central government, excluding employees in health enterprises, rose by 4.1 per cent, to NOK 489 600. For employees in health enterprises, annual earnings rose by 3.6 per cent, to NOK 488 100.
