Official statistics from Statistics Norway are normally presented at an aggregate level, such as region or county. However, most statistics are based on raw data that can provide information at a far more detailed level, such as municipality or town. You can make direct contact with the employees listed on the web pages for the relevant statistics. For access to microdata that spans more than one statistical area, you can email us at tabelloppdrag@ssb.no.

Place the tables in an Excel spreadsheet to show them with columns and rows. Statistics Norway needs to anonymise the tables it provides. Be aware that if there are any confidentiality issues, it will not be possible to access all of the tables requested. You may therefore want to group some variables together or create several smaller tables. The spreadsheet should be in Norwegian and contain sample tables showing variables and categories.
The public administration can order anonymous tables and microdata. Some variables are subject to exemption. Non-anonymised data on gender, age, place of residence, country of birth and date of death can be provided for analysis purposes in public planning. The legal basis must be specified for the requirement in accordance with the GDPR, along with a brief explanation. Enquiries should also include a visualisation of the columns and rows in the table, and should be sent to mikrodata@ssb.no.

The price covers the following activities:

- Anonymisation

Information about individuals or businesses can be revealed when a variable only includes a small number of data subjects. In most cases, this will be where there are fewer than three. Different methods can be used to prevent this, with the two most common being suppression and rounding. Where figures are suppressed, small numbers in the table are replaced with ‘.’, and with rounding, all ones are set to zero and all twos are set to three.
In order to avoid too much suppression in a table, variables can be grouped together. For example, the age variable can be grouped into age ranges.
The lowest geographical level that Statistics Norway can use to create tables is the basic statistical unit.
