Unlike most previous research, which has primarily focused on asylum seekers from the point of settlement, this project also looks at their initial period in Norway, which is typically spent in reception centers. Very little quantitative research has been conducted on the integration of asylum seekers that includes the reception period. The project will, among other things, explore and control for factors such as the length of stay in reception centers, the number of moves between centers, who individuals live with in the centers, and the location and type of reception center. By including this initial period when studying the life course of asylum seekers, we aim to understand the role that reception centers may play in the integration process of this group.
