For the hunting year 2007/08 and 2008/09 the statistics show moose felled at the hunting area managed by the municipality. Municipalities not managing the hunting themselves will lack in the statistics. Until 1952 the big game hunting statistics were based on reports from the district police superintendants. As from 1952 the reports are collected by the District Game Boards. Before 1952 the statistics included all animals felled, legally felled as well as, to the extent that information was available, the irregular reduction (i.e. animals felled illegally, animals killed in accidents, etc). Since 1952 the statistics include only animals felled legally during the hunting season. See list over changes in regional classifications (in Norwegian).

Tables that use the new regional division also for the years before 2024.
