It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

Total operating expenses for the country include state owned health enterprises (HF / RHF) and private health institutions within the specialist health services. Regional figures include the state owned health enterprises and only private with operating agreements in the region. Operating expenses for the region and country level are adjusted for guest patient revenues and internal trade between health enterprises and transfers from health enterprises to the private health institutions. From 2009 Lab / X-ray published as a separate function. Changes in the pension system has led to reduction in pension costs in 2010 and 2014, leading to breach in time-series. In StatRes table 09447 pension costs are corrected for the reduction and thus operating costs for 2010 and 2014 can be compared to other years. In 2015 only private institutions with government mandate are presented as 'private institutions with operating agreements'. These institutions are included in Health region West and Health region South-East. Other private institutions are presented as 'private institutions without operating agreements' and are not included in the region numbers. The affected variables cannot be compared with previous years. This table will be updated to ensure comparability. From 2017 the health enterprises are entitled to VAT refund. Hence, revenues and expences are reduced compared to previous years. Statistics on institutions are not published after 2012. Please use contact persons if you need figures on institutional level.
