The variable «years» represents, in this table, the year a class of pupils started their education in upper secondary school, for the first time. July 2023 this table was expanded to include 3 and 4 years horizons, also for already published (yearly) classes. Additionally, data for starting classes where published forward in time, wherever possible. This means that for 2023's publication the starting class of 2013's time horizons up to '9 years' were made available, up to the starting class of 2019 where the '3 year' horizon was made available. Data for unavailable years will be shown as '.', - not yet available. During these changes to the table, already published data was updated from the National Education Database. This may have led to small changes to already published numbers. 3 years time horizon is set at first possible opportunity for any given starting class in upper secondary school. For the publishing in 2024, our latest available data is from 2023. We can in 2024 therefore publish for 3 years time horizon for the starting class from 2020. At this point there is not yet any available data for what these pupils have done during the fourth year after starting. The numbers in this table, for the 3 year time horizon may therefore be different from other tables in this statistical product, for example when comparing to the completion rate at the normative length of general fields of study, which is also 3 years. In the other tables, information is available, which indicates if the pupils started higher education in the following years, and this is used as an indicator of completed upper secondary school. We can not do this for this table, when publishing the 3 year time horizon, at first possible opportunity. The standard lengths of a study programme differ between general and vocational qualifications, the duration of general studies are usually 3 years, and 4 years for vocational programs. However, pupils starting upper secondary school in a vocational program, may switch to general studies, and still finish within 3 years. Keep this in mind when interpreting the table, as the underlying preconditions differ based on the pupils' choice of study options.
