A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

Then release Ctrl and press space. Repeat. Mac:CMD+arrow down/up. Then release CMD and press spacebar. Repeat. (Works only in Chrome, not in Safari). To exit listbox with values selected, press TAB-key.

The parents' level of education is a measure of social background. The value is determined by the highest level of education completed by either mother, father or both when the person is 16 years old.

Less than 30 years

For the age group under 30 years, figures for people whose parents have primary school education are combined with upper secondary education for reasons of confidentiality.

Mother or father has long tertiary education

Long tertiary education is more than four years.

Mother or father has short tertiary education

Short tertiary education is four years or less.
