Wage cost up for road goods transport
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.8 per cent last month, mainly due to increased wages.
During the last 12 months, the total cost index has decreased by 0.1 per cent, due to the general decrease in diesel prices.
Jump in wage costs
The Wage Index has increased by 6.1 per cent during the last 12 months. In comparison, the index increased by 2.8 per cent between December 1999 and December 2000. Since last month, the index has increased by 2.1 per cent.
Diesel prices still declining
The fuel index has decreased by 1.2 per cent between November and December 2001. During the last 12 months, the index has decreased by 21.1 per cent because of lower taxes and oil prices.
Increase in administration costs
The administration cost index increased by 1.4 per cent last month. During the last 12 months, this index has increased by 4.0 per cent.
Increased repairs and service costs
The sub-index for repair and service costs has increased by 5.3 per cent from December 2000 to December 2001. Compared with last month, the sub index increased by 0.2 per cent.
The other sub-indices showed little or no change the last month.
