Increased costs for road goods transport
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.2 per cent between December 2001 and January 2002, mainly due to increased diesel prices, increased insurance premiums and increased road tolls.
The fuel index increased by 1.7 per cent last month. The index is based on actual sales prices from a representative number of suppliers across Norway and will therefore reflect an eventual rise in prices due to the end of freight subsidies on diesel from the 1s t of January.
In the last 12 months, the index has decreased by 11.0 per cent due to lower taxes and the general decrease in oil prices.
Increase in insurance costs
The insurance cost index increased by 3.4 per cent last month. During the last 12 months, the index has increased by 9.6 per cent.
Rise in road tolls
The index for ferry costs and road tolls increased by 1.3 per cent the last month, mainly due to increased road tolls. Since January 2001, this index has increased by 13.6 per cent.
Increase in tyre prices
The tyre index increased by 0.5 per cent compared with last month. During the last 12 months, this index has increased by 2.7 per cent.
Increase in administration costs
The administration cost index increased by 0.4 per cent last month. In the last 12 months, this index has increased by 3.6 per cent.
Decrease in capital costs
The index for capital costs has decreased by 0.7 per cent the last month. During the last 12 months, this index has increased by 0.5 per cent.
The other sub-indices showed little or no change the last month.
