Increased costs for road goods transport

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.4 per cent last month, mainly due to the increase in diesel prices. The cost index has increased by 1.4 per cent in the last 12 months.

The fuel index has increased by 1.1 per cent between February and March. In the last 12 months, this index has decreased by 9.5 per cent, due to lower taxes and a general decrease in oil prices.

Increase in wage costs

The Wage index has increased by 0.5 per cent in the last month. Over the last 12 months, this index has increased by 4.1 per cent.

Increase in administration costs

The administration cost index increased by 0.4 per cent between February and March, due to an increase in rent costs. Between March 2001 and March 2002, this index has increased by 3.7 per cent.

Decrease in capital costs

The index for capital costs decreased by 0.2 per cent last month, due to a decline in interest expenses. Over the last 12 months, this index has increased by 0.3 per cent.

The other sub-indices showed little or no change the last month.
