Increased costs for road goods transport
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.4 per cent last month, mainly due to increased diesel prices, increased tyre prices and an increase in real interest rates. The total cost index has increased by 1.8 per cent in the last 12 months.
The recent development in oil prices has led the fuel index to increase by 1.6 per cent between March and April. However, in the last 12 months this index has decreased by 7.3 per cent, due to lower taxes and a general decrease in oil prices.
More expensive tyres
The tyre index increased by 0.7 per cent compared with last month. During the last 12 months, this index has increased by 2.8 per cent.
Increase in capital costs
The index for capital costs increased by 0.6 per cent last month, due to increased interest expenses. Over the last 12 months, this index has increased by 0.3 per cent.
Slight increase in administration costs
The administration cost index increased by 0.1 per cent between March and April, due to an increase in rent costs. Between April 2001 and April 2002, this index has increased by 3.6 per cent.
The other sub-indices showed little or no change the last month.
