Increased costs for transport of road goods
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.5 per cent last month, mainly due to increased salaries and an increase of insurance premiums. Diesel prices counteracted this increase.
The insurance cost index increased by 1.6 per cent last month. From August 2001 to August 2002 this index has increased by 6.8 per cent, while the total cost index for road goods transport increased by 2.6 per cent.
Cheaper diesel
The recent development in oil prices has led the fuel index to decrease by 1.0 per cent in the last month. The last 12 months this index decreased by 5.3 per cent.
Increased wages
The wage index has increased by 0.7 per cent in the last month. Over the last 12 months this index increased by 5.8 per cent.
Increase in capital costs
The index for capital costs increased by 0.7 per cent last month. From August 2001 to August 2002 this index has increased by 1.1 per cent.
The other sub-indices showed little or no change last month.
