Increased costs for road goods transport

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.1 per cent last month, mainly due to increased diesel prices. In the last 12 months the total costs have risen 2.9 per cent.

The fuel index increased by 1.4 per cent last month, due to a continuing rise in diesel prices since late August. However, in the last 12 months this index has decreased by 2.1 per cent in accordance with the long-term development in oil prices.

Decrease in capital costs

The index for capital costs decreased by 1.0 per cent last month, due to a decrease in the real interest rates. From October 2001 to October 2002 this index has increased by 1.1 per cent.

Small increase in administration costs

The administration cost index increased by 0.1 per cent from September to October, due to the increase in general prices. During the last 12 months this index has increased by 5.1 per cent.

The other sub-indices showed little or no change last month.
