Drop in diesel prices

The total cost index for road goods transport fell by 1.1 per cent on average from March to April, mainly due to a substantial decrease in diesel prices. In the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 3.4 per cent on average.

The recent development in oil prices led the fuel index to decrease by 11.0 per cent from March to April. With that, diesel prices are back on about the same level as in January this year.

The fuel index is based on actual diesel prices on the 15th of April. From April 2002 to April 2003 the fuel index has increased by 2.0 per cent.
