More expensive at repair shop

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.4 per cent from May to June, due to an increase in capital costs, rise in repair and service costs and higher diesel and tyre prices. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 1.7 per cent.

Increased capital costs

The index for capital costs increased by 1.2 per cent the last month mainly due to the increase in real interest rates. In the last 12 months this index has decreased by 8.1 per cent.

Rise in repair and service costs

The sub-index for repair and service costs increased by 1.0 per cent form May to June. In the last 12 months this index has increased by 3.1 per cent.

Higher diesel prices

The fuel index has increased by 0.6 per cent the last month. From June 2003 to June 2004 this sub-index has increased by 5.2 per cent.

The fuel index is based on actual diesel prices collected from a representative selection of dealers across the country on the 15th of each month.

Increased tyre prices

The tyre index has increased by 0.7 per cent the last month. In the last 12 months this index has increased by 4.1 per cent.

The other sub-indices show little or no change over the last month.
