Cost index for road goods transport, Q4 2004

The total cost index for road goods transport decreased by 0.3 per cent from November 2004 to December 2004. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 3.2 per cent.

Higher capital costs

The index for capital costs increased by 1.4 per cent for the last month. During the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fee, has increased by 0.2 per cent.

Increased tyre prices

The tyre index has increased by 0.8 per cent for the last month. During the last 12 months this index has increased by 5.1 per cent.

Increased insurance premiums

The insurance cost index has increased by 0.7 per cent from November 2004 to December 2004, mainly due to adjustments in prices by some insurance companies. During the last 12 months this index has increased by 0.7 per cent.

The other sub-indices show little or no change over the last month.
