Increase in total cost index
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.8 per cent for the last month, mainly due to higher diesel prices, rise in ferry costs and higher insurance premiums. Over the last 12 months the total costs increased by 3.6 per cent.
The fuel index has increased by 3.4 per cent for the last month. From January 2004 to January 2005 this sub-index increased by 8.9 per cent.
Rise in ferry costs
The index for ferry costs and road tolls has increased by 4.9 per cent in the last month due to rise in ferry costs. In the last 12 months this index increased by 6.5 per cent.
Increased insurance premiums
The insurance cost index increased by 1.1 per cent from January 2004 to January 2005, mainly due to adjustments in prices by some insurance companies. During the last 12 months this index has increased by 1.8 per cent.
Higher capital costs
The index for capital costs increased by 0.9 per cent for the last month. In the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fee, has increased by 1.0 per cent.
Lower tyre prices
The tyre index has decreased by 5.2 per cent for the last month. In the last 12 months this index has decreased by 1.9 per cent.
The other sub-indices show little or no change over the last month.
