Increase in transport costs
Increasing fuel and tyre prices made road goods transport more expensive during the last month. Lower capital costs lessened the increase.
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.1 per cent from March 2006 to April 2006. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 3.4 per cent.
Higher diesel prices
The fuel index has increased by 1.2 per cent during the last month. From April 2005 to April 2006 this sub-index has increased by 8,5 per cent.
Increased tyre prices
The tyre index has increased by 2.0 per cent from March to April due to price changes by some suppliers. Over the last 12 months this sub-index has increased by 8,7 per cent.
Lower capital costs
The index for capital costs decreased by 1,4 per cent the last month, mainly due to decrease in the real interests rates. In the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fee, has increased by 2,4 per cent.
The real interest rates are based on the consumer price index and are three month's NIBOR-rates from the Central Bank of Norway, and may therefore deviate somewhat from the average interest offered by Norwegian banks.
The other sub-indices show no change over the last month.
