Increase in transport costs
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.4 cent from April 2006 to May 2006. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 4.0 per cent.
The index for capital costs increased by 2.2 per cent the last month, mainly due to decrease in the real interests rates. In the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fee, has increased by 4.8 per cent.
The real interest rates are based on the consumer price index and are three month's NIBOR-rates from the Central Bank of Norway, and may therefore deviate somewhat from the average interest offered by Norwegian banks.
Lower diesel prices
The fuel index has decreased by 0.4 per cent for the last month. From May 2005 to May 2006 this sub-index has increased by 9.4 per cent.
The other sub-indices show no change over the last month.
