Slight increase in transport costs

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.2 per cent from May 2006 to June 2006. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 3.7 per cent.

The increase is due to a price hike on tyres. The tyre index has increased by 1.3 per cent from May to June due to price changes by some suppliers. Over the last 12 months this sub-index has increased by 6.0 per cent.

Higher capital costs

The index for capital costs increased by 1.1 per cent the last month, mainly due to increase in the real interests rates. In the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fee, has increased by 5.3 per cent.

The real interest rates are based on the consumer price index and three month's NIBOR-rates from the Central Bank of Norway, and may therefore deviate somewhat from the average interest offered by Norwegian banks.

Lower diesel prices

The fuel index has decreased by 0.4 per cent for the last month. From June 2005 to June 2006 this sub-index has increased by 6.5 per cent.

The other sub-indices show no or minor change over the last month.
