Longer transport distances
During this year’s first quarter, Norwegian lorries carried a total of 51 million tonnes of goods on domestic and foreign roads. This is almost the same amount as in the corresponding quarter last year. However, the average transport distance was somewhat longer during the first quarter of 2006 compared to the corresponding period last year.
Each tonne was carried on average 3.2 km longer than in the first quarter of 2005, and this led to an increase in the transport performance of 3.2 per cent to almost 4.6 billion tonne-kilometres.
Due to adjustments in the calculation methodology, figures referring to 1st quarter of 2006 are changed in subsequent publications. |
