Continued decline in lorry transport
The transport performance by Norwegian lorries during the 2n d quarter of 2009 was 19.9 per cent lower than in the corresponding quarter last year. The biggest fall was for domestic transport, with 21.3 per cent, while the international transport performance decreased by 13.6 per cent.
The total transport performance by Norwegian lorries during this year’s 2n d quarter amounted to 4.4 billion tonne kilometres, of which 3.5 was made up of domestic transport and 0.9 on international transport. A total of 68.1 million tonnes of goods were transported.
The financial crisis had not reached the Norwegian road transport industry by the 2n d quarter of last year. At that point in time both the transport performance and the tonnage carried were at the highest level ever registered in this survey.
