More road transport
During the first quarter of 2012, Norwegian lorries transported a total of 56 million tonnes of goods on Norwegian and foreign roads; an increase of 2 per cent compared with the same quarter last year.
The average length of carriage per tonne by Norwegian lorries increased, however, and amounted to 72.4 kilometres in the first quarter this year. This helped transport performance increase by 15 per cent and amounted to 4 billion tonne kilometres in the first quarter of 2012.
Of the total 56 million tonnes of goods transported by Norwegian lorries in the first quarter of this year, 1.3 million tonnes were transported across the border. Transport performance amounted to 777 million tonne kilometres. Transported amount abroad fell by 10 per cent, while transport performance increased by almost 2 per cent.
