Employment continues to rise

There were 19 000 more employed persons from January to April 2018, adjusted for seasonal variations. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7 per cent in April.

According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the seasonally adjusted number of employed persons increased by 19 000 persons from January (average of December–February) to April (average of March–May). This corresponds to an increase of 0.4 percentage points in the employment rate.

Decrease in unemployment the last year
The seasonally-adjusted unemployment decreased by 7 000 persons from January (average of December-February) to April (average of March-May). This change is within the LFS margin of error.
