More employed persons

There were 14 000 more employed persons from April to July, adjusted for seasonal variations. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 per cent in July.

According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the seasonally-adjusted number of employed persons increased by 14 000 persons from April (average of March-May) to July (average of June-August). This change is within the LFS margin of error.
From November 2017 the number of employed persons has increased by 39 000 persons, and there has been a gradual increase in the employment rate.

Small changes in unemployment
The seasonally-adjusted numbers of unemployed persons increased by 8 000 persons from April (average of March-May) to July (average of June-August). This change is within the LFS margin of error. At the same time the labour force thus increased by 22 000 persons.
