Strong growth at Rygge airport

A total of 317 00 passengers were carried to and from Moss Rygge airport during the 1st quarter of 2011. This is 98 000 more passengers than the same quarter of 2010; an increment of 6.6 per cent. While the number of passengers who flew on international flights increased, the number of passengers on domestic flights decreased.

A total of 278 000 passengers on international flights flew from Rygge in the 1st quarter of 2011, which is almost twice as many as the 1st quarter of 2010 when 145 000 passengers flew from the same airport. Only 39 000 passengers flew on domestic flights from Rygge this 1st quarter compared to the 74 000 passengers in the same period of 2010.

Fewer passengers from Torp

Torp airport had 105 000 fewer passengers in the 1st quarter of 2011 compared to the 1st quarter of 2010. Torp airport registered an increment in domestic flights, but a drop in the number of passengers on international flights, which is the opposite tendency shown at Rygge airport.

Continuing growth at national level

A total of 664 000 more passengers flew between national airports in the 1st quarter of 2011 than the same period in 2010. Of this, Oslo airport Gardermoen had 359 000 more passengers and the corresponding increase from Bergen airport Flesland was 79 000 passengers.

Also growth in goods transport

A total of 17 000 tonnes of goods were transported to and from Norway during the 1st quarter of 2011; of which 13 600 was from Oslo airport Gardermoen. Goods transport between national airports was about 3 400 tonnes, which corresponds to an increment of 12.7 per cent from the same period in 2010.

Small increase in capacity

There were 177 000 aircraft movements registered at Norwegian airports in the 1st quarter of 2011; an increment of 2.5 per cent compared to the 1st quarter of 2010. The corresponding number of seats was 18.3 million; 4.5 per cent more than the same quarter of 2010.

One in two seats empty between Stavanger and Trondheim

In the 1st quarter of 2011 there were 14 600 passengers from Stavanger to Trondheim and 195 departures with a total of 30 000 seats available. This means that 50 per cent of the seats were empty.
