Shorter transports
During the first quarter of 2008, Norwegian lorries transported a total of 70.8 million tonnes of goods in this country, which is 7.5 million tonnes more than in the corresponding period last year. Each tonne was transported 54.5 kilometres on average; 4.9 kilometres less than in the first quarter of 2007.
Norwegian lorries covered a total of 404.4 million kilometres in Norway during this year’s first quarter, of which 294.8 kilometres were with the lorry loaded. The transport performance amounted to 3.9 billion tonne kilometres; 203 million tonne kilometres less than in the same quarter in 2007.
With regard to transports abroad, Norwegian lorries covered 53.8 million kilometres, and 45.3 million kilometres with the lorry loaded. In total, 1.6 million tonnes were transported by Norwegian lorries abroad, and the international transport performance was 931 million tonne kilometres.
